  Osama's Letter

Subject: Osama's letter to George W. Bush

Osama decided to send newly re-elected, George W Bush, a congratulatory letter in his own handwriting to let him know he was still in the game.

Bush opened the letter and it appeared to contain a coded message: 370HSSV-0773H

Bush was baffled, so he e-mailed it to Colin Powell. Powell and his aides had no clue either so they sent it to the FBI.

At the FBI, no one could solve it so it went to the CIA, and then to the NSA, then to the Secret Service and to the ISA and OSA. With none having any clue as to its meaning, they eventually asked our very own Tun for help.

Having received a similar message before, the Tun had little problem solving it. Soon a cable was dispatched from the Twin Towers, which used to be the tallest of tallest in the world, to the White House, it read as follows: "Tell the newly re-elected P he is looking at the message upside down"

The 4,900-hectare PutraJaya, our nation's new federal administrative hub was built at a cost of some RM2.2 billion or more. It has been billed 'The City for the Future' because of its high-tech contents and is also known as "Malaysia's first Intelligent Garden City'. According to the Straits Times, it is also fast becoming a 'hot tourist attraction'.  |

Of Standing Firm Behind & No Stabbing in the Back

::In his adjournment speech at the 55th Umno [Baru] General Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre, the baru [new] deputy President of UMNO [Baru] said :: "I will stand firm behind Pak Lah and I am not the kind of person who stabs Pak Lah in the back." It is so deja vu like, haven't we heard many others said these words before and then go on to do whatever needed doing.
According to Bernama ::
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, said he would give his undivided support to Abdullah just like Abdullah did to his late father, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein 30 years ago.
"Now, it's my turn and fate has it that I will serve Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi or Pak Lah," he said.

While we on this back topic, it looks like after some 30 years there are many still having weak backs. According to Bernama, Pak Lah in his maiden policy address at the 55th Umno [Baru] General Assembly had the following to say ::
The Prime Minister said the Bumiputeras realised that they were on crutches and want to walk without them but were afraid to discard them.
"Because of this fear, they resort to find short-cuts to blame others.
"If this trend continues, Bumiputeras may go weaker, from walking with crutches to cannot walk at all and become paralysed and must be pushed in a wheelchair.

It was pretty obvious that the baru [new] UMNO [Baru] President was referring to the weak backs of some of the non-non-bumis and their need for crutches to stand up and be counted. He has also expressed his fears that like a 'traitor' who need not be named the crutches may not be enough and they may become wheelchair bound. Worse still, things may get worse and they may need trolleys to eventually move around. In such a state, being wheelchair/trolley bound, one may find it difficult to Live One's Life With Pride And Dignity. This was what Pak Lah had to say when winding up the debate at the final day of the 55th Umno [Baru] general assembly ::
"If Hang Tuah had declared 'Takkan Melayu hilang di dunia' (the Malays will not perish from this world), I want the Malays to live their lives with pride and dignity."
He said that for over 400 years under colonial rule, the Malays did not perish but they had no power or authority until Umno came to rescue them and gave them pride and dignity.

But those with weak backs have little to fear for recently it is known that there was a case of a patient with a weak back and who was wheelchair bound who went to this clinic in Munich and after an operation which took just 1 hour 45 minutes to complete, was apparently able to return to his room by foot, whatever that meant.
Our MoH, Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek, should seriously pay this clinic, the AlphaKlinik, a visit. Better still our Health MINIster should immediately seriously consider sending our government doctors to receive training on this minimal invasive spinal procedure which can be done under local anaesthesia. This would be a great help for those with weak backs. Already the private sector has beaten the MoH in this aspect, for at least one neurosurgeon in private pratice is said to be receiving training in this technique.
Now where has my mind wandered off, at the start what i wanted to point out was that someone pointed out that UMNO Baru was only founded in 1988 by Mahathir, now Tun. Now, how is it possible that in 2004, this UMNO Baru is having its 55th General Assembly. And suddenly there were these issues of weakness, backs, crutches, wheelchairs, minimal invasive surgery and so on. And off i wandered. Can anyone out there please explain to senile me how a relatively new party can be holding its 55th general assembly, is said to have 5 former presidents when many have only managed to count truly two, the first having just stepped down in October 2003 and the second just having been anointed at this recent general assembly. The whole thing is so confusing, please explain.
Now, before i go, just one more item, at the UMNO [Baru] General Assembly, much mention was made about the "Malay Agenda". But not so long ago we were told in no uncertain terms that as Malaysians, "We are all equal, We are all Malaysians", "There is no individual in this country recognised as "more Malaysian" than others", and "All of us are the same"
Oh yes, there is one more thing i need to be reminded. Lately before the General Assembly, much fuss was made regarding "money politics". Now that the assembly inclusive of the "night of shock" is over, it apppears that this "money politics" has not been clearly defined leading to mucho confusion. According to Pak Lah, this term needs to be redefined. Now while he is at it, could he also redefined the following terms :: 'traitors', 'treachery', "equal Malaysians" and 'meritocracy'; there has also been confusion regarding these terms. We need truly to understand what these terms truly mean.

We are All Equal

::What more can one ask for this Merdeka Day, for upon waking up and opening the day's papers, one reads that ::

"All of us are the same,
We are all Malaysians.
We are all equals."

The new PM has spoken. We will work with him, tell him the truth as we see it and ensure that as he has spoken, so it will be that Malaysia will be a land, where from this day on ::

"All of us are the same,
We are all Malaysians.
We are all equals."

P.S.
[Now you see it, now you don't]

"All of us are the same, we are all Malaysians. There is no individual in this country recognised as "more Malaysian" than others," he said.[Bernama]

Abdullah said there is no individual in the country recognised as "more Malaysian" than others.
"All of us are the same, we are all Malaysians. We are all equals," he said. [The Star]

Let all citizens of Malaysia, without feeling inferior, without feeling sidelined, irrespective of race or religion, rise to become statesmen in our own land. We are equal, we are all Malaysians. No individual in this country is more Malaysian than another.[New Straits Times]

KFC Abuse

::There is this abuse video out there showing a KFC supplier abusing the chicks. These chicks are caught on video footage being kicked, stomped and thrown against a wall by workers at a supplier for Kentucky Fried Chicken. There is also eyewitness testimony about employees 'ripping birds' beaks off, spray-painting their faces, twisting their heads off, spitting tobacco into their mouths and eyes, and breaking them in half - all while the birds are still alive. And to top it all this supplier is known as :: Pilgrim's Pride. The plant is in Moorefield, US of A.

Pilgrim's Pride spokesman Ray Atkinson said the company is appalled by what is on the video and has reopened a previous investigation into complaints of chick abuse. It hass also promise to fire any employees who are found to have violated company policies on chick welfare.

So just be 'moore' careful when you you next take a bite into that succulent KFC drumstick, do think of the poor abused chick it may have previously belonged to.

The investigations and video were made possible by PETA:: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Malaysia Tops United Nations' Human Development Index

Believe it or not that was the Bernama headline. But read on and you will realise that it is only a creative spin.
The Bernama report goes on to say ::
  • Malaysia now ranked above all other Asian countries in the United Nations human development index (HDI) score, Resident Coordinator of the UN System's Operational Activities for Development in Malaysia, Richard Leete said Tuesday.
  • In the HDI, Leete said Malaysia, though ranked 59 out of 177 countries, was still above other Asian countries, excluding Japan, South Korea and the small city states.
  • "What we have observed is that few countries can match the speed and level of progress that Malaysia has made.
  • "Looking round the world, it would be difficult to name more than half a dozen countries who have a track record for improving the lives of its people in the context of peace and stablity that Malaysia has," he said.

The facts are ::
  • In the UN HDI Malaysia is 59 out of 177 countries
  • Neighbouring countries like Singapore is No. 25, HongKong is No. 23, Brunei is No.33, Seychelles is No. 35
  • Malaysia is in the Medium Human Development category, even then she is not at the top of this category

The Great ISA Debate, Great Sandiwara

::The Great ISA debate was announced some weeks ago. A public debate on the controversial ISA between Lim Kit Siang and the MINIster of Parliament sounded good. The debate was decided for tonight and a few may have planned to attend it, but i didn't. Why, you may ask? Not having a short memory helped. The last time this particular MINIster was to have taken part in a debate with the opposition, it fizzled out at the last moment. The polis in Terengganu intervened, stepping in at the very last moment and the debate was stillborn. The reason the polis gave then, that 'lamed cover all' reason, national security. So when i heard of this Great ISA debate, i figured that it will be similarly aborted and the same old oft used reason given. The polis once again did not prove me wrong and came to the rescue of the MINIster.

True enough, a few days before the event the polis refused to issue the permit. Lim KS said that the polis had earlier said verbally that the permit would be given. Being an old hand Lim should have been aware of such gostan. On learning about the eprmit rejection, the DAP submitted an appeal. So the merry-go-round continued. The MINIster was 'surprised' and his special assistant was quoted as saying :: "Dato said it is better for the debate to go on. He was surprised with the police’s decision," and added :: "He will submit a formal appeal letter on the matter tomorrow".

The appeal(s) to the Kuala Lumpur police chief produced similar results, another rejection, the police chief had decided to back up his subordinate. So the next stage of appeal of taken and the IGP approached. At the 11th hour, the permit was given today, but the debate won't amterialise, at least for tonight, as the MINIster concerned has a prior appointment. The MINIster proabably expected all appeals, even his own to be rejected,

Malaysiakini in its latest report on the debate has this to say ::
Met at the Parliament lobby earlier, Nazri said he had no idea why the police refused earlier to grant a permit.
The MINIster, who oversees parliamentary affairs, said he will discuss with Lim on a new date for the debate.
"The debate is definitely on," stressed Nazri, who agreed to the debate following an invitation by the opposition leader in the last parliamentary session.

Doesn't all that this MINIster has to say sounds very similar to what he had to say when that Terengganu debate was aborted by the polis. i cannot recall that that particular debate ever taking place after that. What can one said about the merry-go-round this time around, just another bolehland sandiwara

The polis is very good at stepping in at the last moment and fouling thing up. It does serve a purpose, it ensures that such events are often considered as non-events by the public right from the start, right from the word go. In this manner, the polis ensures that these events are poorly attended when they are allowed/permitted at the 11th hour and as a result demoralises those organising such events. To the organisers of such events don't give up, when this particular MINIster is not involved, i have today resolve to do my level best to attend in the future.
