Farewell to the My Way Man

In a few short hours, our My Way Man will make his exit, and whether it is true or not that , My Way is his favourite song or not; it is probably the best song that describes the Man of the hour. In his retirement, which we hope will be long and fruitful as his 22 years at the helm of our Government have been, he will have plenty of time to reflect and ponder over all that he had said and done and all the blows that he had received.
The past many many days, tributes have been pouring in for him over all forms of the media and there is little need to add further.
What is left is to wish him Happy Days Ahead and A Well Earned Retirement and hope that he will be true and continue doing things My Way now that he will be out of our way. As he has told us that while toiling for us and the nation these past 22 years, he has been rather short of that commodity called sleep, lets also wish him Happy, Sleepful and Peaceful Nights

.
And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.........

More tributes? ::

  1. Thank you, Dr M
  2. Your Retirement has given us another chance
  3. Discard Dr M versi of Democracy

Turkey's magical mystery tour

Look what was found on this webpage :: BusinessDay :: News Worth Knowing. So what's this 'news worth knowing' and turkish 'magical mystery tour'? BusinessDay reported :: The sign on the front of the bus reads "Come try something different with us" but police in Istanbul say the four people running Turkey's first brothel-on-wheels may be breaking the law. What's even more surprising is that it reported that prostitution is legal in Turkey. Turkey is like Malaysia, a founding member of the OIC.
How did this enterprise run foul of the law. Prostitution though legal legal in Turkey but is so only when it is carried out in registered brothels, the 'brothel-on-wheels' has yet to be registered acording to the police.

Damn Frus One

My friend and gua was so happy happy when leading the Star :: Dr M say :: "The first Malaysian Astronaut can be just the man in the street". Rules veli simple. So we go to the internet cafe, go to the website :: angkasawan.gov.my to sign-ing online. We want to be "Bolehnauts" because we from Malaysia Boleh, also ablebodied, got otak, got collect attitude and aptitude and also above 21.

Now this Datuk C-lee fello Najib tell us people that only ten candidates wanted. These people must have tua oak degree, experiment in alospace sciences and can fly aelopain. How can, chain rules just like that, make my friends and me vomit blood, kee see gua lang; main veli kotor. We apply and now they chain rules, mana boleh. Now also say, candidates must can be aktif in scuba diving, peh sua and public speakee. Why now rules different from what our great Dr M say before. Now kong chiao weh, belly buay kum guan man. Early early say so lah, my friend and gua no sign-ing, wasting time only, leow lui in internet cafe.

Better not have high hopes, after the Najib fello come out with mor rules. Now can only damn frus one, where got chan now.

The above was overheard in a kopitiam recently when one potential "Bolehnaut" Ah Beng was telling his friend about his application to be a Malaysian Astronaut and the frustrations he sufferred. At the time of writing the website showed total "Bolehnaut" applicants standing at 7236, this has exceeded the figure of 6000 expected by the Najib fello, oophs I mean Datuk Seri Najib. And it is only 25th Oct today.

Dr M's, big heart : No; cardiomegaly : maybe

Came across a funny, The forgiving nature of Dr M in Bernama today. Dr M's long time party comrade and now his Political Secretary, Datuk Mohamad Johari Baharum, revealed that there is another side to our Dr M, which only few are privy to. One aspect of Dr Mahathir's congenial nature is his big heart and forgiving trait.
Datuk Mohamad Johari Baharum quotes two episodes ::

1. The re-entry of the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) into the Barisan Nasional
During the 1990 election campaign, Pairin and the PBS had withdrawn, at the last minute, from the BN, this withdrawal really hurt Dr Mahathir very deeply. "Pairin was worried that the PM will put strong conditions for the re-entry, but to the contrary he had a pleasant surprise that not only Dr Mahathir accepted the application without any preconditions but also the Prime Minister treated Pairin and PBS Deputy President Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili who was with him, most graciously and saw them off until the door.
"The meeting which was scheduled to last for 15 minutes, stretched to 45 minutes:
"This really touched Pairin very much and he shed tears," Johari said.

2. Former Umno Youth head Datuk Zahid Hamidi re-entry in Dr M's good books.
Zahid Hamidi the then Umno Youth chief was aligned to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He very strongly criticised Dr Mahathir and accused him of nepotism and cronyism during the 1996 Umno general assembly which shocked party delegates and members alike.
Zahid retracted what he had said and asked for forgiveness and Dr Mahathir not only magnanimously forgave him but also rehabilitated him in the corporate world

Of course, we could name many many more episodes where politicos and others who have hurt Dr M but later have been subjected to Dr M's big hearted embrace and have been rehabilitated and allowed to return to the fold.. Names like :: Rais, Tengku Razaleigh, Pak Lah, the famous "katak" Ibrahim and many more. Recently he had also said that he would have pardoned one DSAI, if only he was king. But were all those forgiven owing to Dr M's 'big heart' or 'besar hati' or was it his head he was using then and the expediencies of politics?

*Cardiomegaly = medic speak, enlarged heart

Pasteleria Erotica- The Erotic Bake

As a followup on Lucia's "Cure for food poisoning", here's one more of those funnies in almost similar vein. This is regarding a bakery called Pasteleria Erotica in Santiago Chile. This bake specialises in cakes and pastries which cause temperatures and possibly other thingys to rise. Sample offerings available at this bake can be seen here.

No mentions are made regarding whether these cakes and cookies have any special properties, aphrodisiac or otherwise, but they are said to be very popular. 90% of customers are ladies catering for women-only parties. Customers are also allowed to have their own creations.

Is there such a bake in Bangsar, I wonder? For those who think that the way to a man's or lady's heart and more......, is by the way of FOOD, you may want to check out this website :: www.interCourses.com.

Yes/No; No/No; Yes/Yes

Let's have some humour from the Net ::

A case for the Third Universal Cardinal Rule of Thumb:: Never be absolute, unless absolutely necessary:

A linguistics professor was lecturing to his class one day. "In English," he said, "A double negative forms a positive. In some languages, though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative. However, there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative."

A voice from the back of the room piped up, "Yeah, right".

  "I Rebuked Mahathir"

In today's Malay Mail (pg 17), the headline, datelined KUTA (Indonesia) read as above. The report stated that "US President Bush said yesterday that he rebuked Malaysian PM at the recently concluded APEC summit over his controversial 'Jews ruled the world' remarks." He told Dr M that the remarks were 'reprehensible, divisive and unnecessary' and added "I did not yell at him, I just told him". he also told Dr M, "You can't pit groups against each other". That's Bush's side of the story.
Could it be that when Bush used those words :: 'reprehensible, divisive and unnecessary' he was referring to the strong words he had used against Dr M, hence leading Dr M to say that Bush 'regretted' having said them. Yesterday, in Bangkok, Dr M denied western media reports that he had been rebuked by Bush.
Anyway Bush saw a silver lining in Dr M's speech :: "He (Dr M)said that we need more education, a terrorist ban, which is good, that was positive".
So the spin goes on, Dr M :: "No Rebuke"; Bush :: "I rebuked Mahathir". Being politicians, one other likely scenario is that the two had agreed to say their own versi for consumation of differing audiences.

No BUSH Rebuke (just Bush Beating)

No BUSH Rebuke

No Bush Rebuke, so says the STAR.
US spokesman Scott McClellan said that Bush had condemned the remarks made by Dr M as "hateful and reprehensible", when he called Dr M aside at the recent APEC meeting in Thailand.
According to Dr M, Bush had "regretted" having had to use strong words against Dr M.

What was really said is anyone's guess. Who is applying the spin and who is really "beating round the BUSH"?

The Funnies, The Spins, The Humourous and The Humourless......
"I do not aim at fusion. Each religion has its own contribution to make to human evolution. I regard the great faiths of the WORLD as so many branches of a tree, each distinct from the other though having the same source.----Mahatma Ghandhi.
