Believe it or not that was the Bernama headline. But read on and you will realise that it is only a creative spin.
The Bernama report goes on to say ::
Malaysia now ranked above all other Asian countries in the United Nations human development index (HDI) score, Resident Coordinator of the UN System's Operational Activities for Development in Malaysia, Richard Leete said Tuesday.
In the HDI, Leete said Malaysia, though ranked 59 out of 177 countries, was still above other Asian countries, excluding Japan, South Korea and the small city states.
"What we have observed is that few countries can match the speed and level of progress that Malaysia has made.
"Looking round the world, it would be difficult to name more than half a dozen countries who have a track record for improving the lives of its people in the context of peace and stablity that Malaysia has," he said.
The facts are ::
In the UN HDI Malaysia is 59 out of 177 countries
Neighbouring countries like Singapore is No. 25, HongKong is No. 23, Brunei is No.33, Seychelles is No. 35
Malaysia is in the Medium Human Development category, even then she is not at the top of this category
